The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) that came into being over fifty years ago, has set many landmark in the domain of its mandate that focuses on the development of nuclear power technology, application of radiation technologies in the fields of agriculture, medicine, industry and research, and advanced technologies.
The cover depicts some of these pivotal technologies.
At the center is the logo originally designed by DAE to mark its golden jubilee during August 3, 2003 – August 3, 2004 and later adopted as it permanent logo. The reactor dome with greenery in the foreground depicts nuclear power as a clean and environment friendly source; five human figures on the dome are symbolic of growth and prosperity of the nation and enhancement in quality of life of the people accrued from the research & development work being pursued by the Department.
